38 Pints of Blood Gathered Here
Residents responded to a local blood appeal on Friday January 28 collecting 38 pints despite 11 rejections. Thirteen first time donors contributed and three volunteers received one gallon pins after their eighth pint. Mire Bonnie Johnson and Mrs Sandy Bashans praised participants and noted Future Farmers of America support with the Blood mobile operation. They urged rejected donors to try again in July when the Blood mobile returns.

The Kettwicks won the FFA Crop Show Sweepstakes Trophy for the second consecutive year for top points across divisions at last week’s event. Ken Shafar won the men's singles with a 710 series at the 1st Annual Holiday Handicap Bowling Tournament held at Buffalo Lanes from December 20, 1971, through January 10. The event drew 672 entries across singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and four-man teams. Don and Darrene Gelken won mixed doubles. Eddy Graham and Jerry Rosaland took men's doubles. the Four Kings of Buffalo Center claimed the four-man team with 2386 pins. Rosaland also topped the high-score list with 279 pins.

Production Begins As Shafars Occupy New Holdings
Shafar Industries of Buffalo Center after negotiating with Hardy Jordal in early November began renovations to set up office display storage and production space in the former Jordal Farm Equipment building. The plant expands to include a fire display section and a new storage area and production rooms for the Born Free coach parts.
