County Legion Meeting Draws Small Turnout in Winnebago
Due to extreme cold last Wednesday a small crowd attended the Winnebago County Legion and Auxiliary meeting at City Hall. Mrs. Katherine Carman presided, with readings of the Constitution Preamble and a Pledge of Allegiance. The program featured a Star Spangled Banner and America singalong, invited talks by visiting officials, and musical numbers by Rich and the Trumpet Trio. Discussions covered county and district plans, with Lake Mills and Graettinger delegates among those speaking. Luncheon followed with cake and sandwiches.

DeVries Sales Barn Office Destroyed by Fire
Early Tuesday the DeVries Sales Barn office burned, destroying most records and much of the furniture and equipment. Firefighters battled the blaze due to hydrant distance, but the 36 by 72 foot building suffered major damage and roof loss. insurance will cover part of the loss. Cleanup began and the sale proceeded that afternoon.

Steven and Craig Heyer of Titonka stayed with grandparents while mother and sister were in the hospital, returning home last Friday.
