Gustafson Named New R E A Director at Co op Meeting
Gustaf B Gustafson was appointed by the Innebago Rural Electric Cooperative Association board to fill the unexpired term after the resignation of his father Carl Gustafson who moved to Lake Mills. He will serve until the annual meeting. Gustafson lives in Mt Valley Township between Forest City and Joice. The board also approved a new 265000 loan for extensions and improvements.

The Buffalo Center Bison fell 24 to 20 to Rake in a hard fought contest Monday night. Kent Winter led the Bison with 8 points, while Smith and Hednefield added 7 each for Rake. Three Buffalo Centerites Enlist in Army
Three Buffalo Center youths Calvin Rippentrop Herbert Pannkuk and J Pannkuk left Monday for Mason City and Fort Riley Kansas to begin a three year hitch in the army They will have eight weeks of basic training at Fort Riley a two week furlough en route then report at Fort Dix New Jersey From there they go to an army camp in Europe hoping for a German posting due to language and relatives There is note that Master Sergeant L J Seiler enlisted twenty youths from Winnebago and Hancock counties in January He adds that any 18 year old may enlist for one year and those aged 19 to 26 for 21 months or three years

Faribault County Minnesota authorities have pursued bootleggers after a county vote. Judge Chris Carlson sentenced four residents on January 21 for illegal sale of intoxicating liquor. Defendants Romain Dylla Ray Dylla Guy Waters and Rosetta Goodrich pled guilty to unlicensed liquor sales with fines up to 500 dollars or six months in jail per count and some sentences suspended.
