Christmas Program at Methodist Church on Dec 22

A Christmas program will be held at the Methodist Church on Sunday December 22 at 8:00 PM. The event features the entire group joined by the congregation and led by Reverend Shreve.

Tribune Announces Christmas and New Year Print Schedule

The Tribune will print its Christmas edition early next week and mail on Tuesday morning December 24. The New Year edition will also publish early to mail on Tuesday morning December 31. News and ads should reach the Tribune office by five o'clock Friday evening December 20.

Golden Wedding Attended by Wide Circle at Trinity Lutheran

Relatives from the community gathered Sunday at Trinity Lutheran church north of Thompson to celebrate the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Smith. Helpers included Minnie Jutting cutting the cake and Charles Rhu bee at the guest book with others assisting. A Kiester grandson Rodney Fure announced the program featuring musical numbers by Carol Jutting Marvin Ites and Teddy Albers.

Gleaners 4-H Christmas Party Highlights and News

The Gleaners 4-H club met at 5 30 p m December 9 at Mary Ellen Heyes home with 19 members present. They discussed Better Breakfasts and showcased Christmas Centerpieces and Decorating Cookies. Plans were made to sell lunch at Milford Ryersons sale on December 20 and a monthly prize for best record book was announced. Penny Lou Magee was born to Mr and Mrs Les Magee of Denver and Jurgens plans to visit Denver to help. Family visits and guests were noted at the Heyes and Som near Rake households.

Final Rites Held Thursday For Christ Hogard

Christ T. Hogard, born 1890 in Denmark, died 1957 in Forest City. He served in the Army Air Corps, became a Buffalo Center iron worker, owned a Britt business, and was active in the Methodist church, Odd Fellows, American Legion, and local clubs. Funeral services were held at Winter Funeral Home with a graveside salute at Evergreen Cemetery.

Observed Silver Wedding Anniversary

Mr and Mrs George Bowers held open house at their home on Sunday Dec 15 to honor their Silver Wedding anniversary The courtesy was arranged by their daughter Mrs Phil Orthel and by several relatives and friends. Mrs Claude Spencer of Mason City cut the cake and Mrs Paul Mastin poured drinks. Eden Farmerettes Meet For December Club Session

The Eden Farmerettes held a regular meeting led by president Judy Hovland at 4 00 p m on Monday December 8 with 25 members present. The program included talks on What I Ate For Breakfast Vitamin C Rich Fruits Milk and demonstrations Good and Poor Breakfast A Good Breakfast Pattern and Menu Planned From It. New business covered a Christmas party set for December 30 and fundraising gifts for homeless children along with a $5 donation to Missionary Reuben Johnson. Linda Larson reported and Linda and Suzanne Rugh hosted lunch with their mother.

Christmas Program at Reformed Church Dec 24 7 30 P M

Christmas program at the Reformed Church features Beginner and Primary departments with songs such as Jesus Loves Me Away in a Manger and Silent Night Holy Night. The adult choir, organist Marsha Harms and pianist Carol Jutting perform, with living pictures by the Junior and Senior classes and numerous participants listed.

Mrs Hanson was mother of Mrs Art Holek of Minneapolis formerly Buffalo Center residents.

Dr Merrill Eiel Dies in Osage Community Doctor Passes Away

Osage physician Merrill Eiel, 64, died Sunday night at his brother Dr John Eiel's home in Osage from a coronary occlusion. A Buffalo Center native who studied at the University of Iowa, he had practiced in Osage since 1935. Surviving are daughter Mrs. James Peterson of Vinton, son Jack at Grinnell College, four sisters, and brother Dr John Eiel. His father Dr Hans Hiel was a pioneer doctor and former Buffalo Center postmaster.

Walter Miller Is Honored At Mason City Banquet

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Miller of Buffalo Center were guests of honor at Archer Petroleum Corporation's banquet at the Hanford Hotel in Mason City. Miller received a certificate of award for outstanding sales ability in 1957 from John Zurbiigen, district manager for north central Iowa, with about 65 guests including Omaha company officials and county manager C. H. Amundson and his wife in attendance.

Elected to Phi Kappa Phi at Ames

One hundred thirty six students staff faculty and alumni have been elected to Phi Kappa Phi at Iowa State College Ames. Initiation will be January 20 in Memorial Union. David Eldredge is among undergraduates honored. Ronald Quale of Forest City is the only other Winnebago county student to be named.

Families Gather for Christmas Parties Across Iowa and Minnesota

Mr and Mrs Kelly Rippentrop visited in Marshalltown with their daughter and family from Thursday to Monday. Mr and Mrs Forrest Schmidt and Mrs Grace Schmidt hosted a dinner in Lakota last Friday evening. The Letcher and Thompson families from Wesley joined Mr and Mrs Willard Thompson for Sunday dinner in Elmore Minnesota. Guests of Ted Fisher on Sunday included Carl Anderson Ames Mattie Melcher Leota Garner Mary Bradfield and Jack Wesley. They enjoyed a Christmas party with gift exchanges.
