4-H County Banquet Honors Local Club Members
The 4 H County Banquet at PSA High School recognized 1938 4 H club work with Dorothy Ostrander and Lyle Miller presiding. About 150 attendees from Buffalo Township, Forest, Eden, Norway Logan, and other clubs heard awards for record books, attendance, and moving pictures by Ev Hagen. Several members received pencils, pins, bracelets, and a plaque for long time service and best live record books.

Rites Held For George Hulme In Woden
George Hulme aged 4 died at home in Grant Township on Sunday morning November 27 1938 after a cerebral hemorrhage last Friday. He had longstanding ill health and paralysis two years prior. Survived by wife a daughter Mrs George Andrews of Buffalo Center and two sons Thomas of Miller and Edward living southeast of here. Funeral at the Woden Methodist Church Wednesday at 1 PM with burial in Bingham Township cemetery.

God Hunting Seasons Hold Steady Across Ducks Pheasants Quail
Hunters report general success as duck, pheasant and quail seasons close. Birds were widespread though heavy cover kept many on the ground. Early warm spells aided local shoots. northern ducks moved in with snows near season end. Quail shooting reached multi year highs with dogs aiding many in reaching bag limits. Overall, game was fat and in excellent condition due to improved food and cover.

County Declam Contest At Lake Mills Friday
The first round of the State Declamatory Contest will be held at the Lake Mills High School auditorium on Friday December 2. Four schools Buffalo Center Forest City Lake Mills and Thompson will be represented in this county meet the winners to advance to the sectional. The oratorical division will compete in the afternoon and the local school will be represented by Robert Sapp. In the evening the dramatic and humorous divisions will compete and Buffalo Center will be represented by Lovon Terveer in the dramatic division and Thomas Snell in the humorous class.

Army Navy Football Game Draws Steinmetz Family
Mr and Mrs R T Steinmetz and son John returned from Philadelphia where Army from West Point defeated Navy from Annapolis 14 to 7. Rollin Jr a cadet witnessed the game alongside about 1800 cadets and parents. The crowd reached 106000 with gate receipts over 500000. The Steinmetzes valued the visit with their son amid cadet drills and Middies performances.

Amateur Contests Winners To Broadcast Over K. G. L. D
The Buffalo Township Farm Bureau held its annual amateur contest at Buffalo Center City Hall on Tuesday evening November 22. Frances Burhow and Earling Adams of Buffalo Center were selected as winners and will broadcast from K. G. L. O. in Mason City. County Agent Clark Mechem reported on Farm Bureau work. Lunch was served by Mrs. Ennen and Gilbert. The December meeting is set for December 6 at Harm Shortenhaus home with Louis Bond and Mrs. Bond among the program committee. The 1938 program will be approved at the meeting.
