Five Generations Picture Captures Local Family History

A five generation photograph showcases Mrs. Robert Baker, 91, of Madison South Dakota as the oldest. Her daughter Mrs. Rollie Steele and Mrs. Lauren Thompson stand with granddaughter and great granddaughter Mrs. George Wempen. Reading Contest Ends September 1st in Winnebago County

The Farm Bureau Women's Library Chairman in Winnebago County urged members in the farm bureau reading project to submit reports by September 1. Each participant must read six books five from a suggested list and one optional. County entries must reach the Iowa Farm Bureau by October 1 for the statewide contest. A County Library Tea for participants is set for September 24.

Dairy herd tests show record fat in July figures

Kenneth Bassett, supervisor for Winnebago Dairy Herd Improvement Association, reports six cows in July tests with 370 pounds butterfat per 305 days. Harold Barber of Buffalo Center notes five Jerseys above 370 pounds. One cow produced 409 pounds fat in 282 days and another 456 pounds in 305 days. Trish and Hanna indicate a Holstein at 401 pounds in 305 days. Get your paint at John & Jerry’s.

Teachers' Pre School Institute Set for August 24

County teachers slated to attend the rural schools institute Tuesday August 24 starting 8:30 a m in the county courthouse court room. Miss Jenkins will cover the reading program and Miss Ruth Wagner of the State Reading Circle will discuss Children s Literature with a book exhibit for grades 1 through and a health talk by county nurse Mrs Bernice Wilkin.

Farmers Visit New Prague Minnesota Breeders Association

Fifty-five farmers travelled to New Prague Minnesota on August 12 to tour the Minnesota Valley Breeders Association headquarters. A chartered bus and some cars carried attendees while thirty bulls were presented and pedigrees explained. Edward B. Syndergaard led the program and a Q and A covered association topics amid a lab demonstration of semen collection and processing. A barn dance was announced for August 19 at Henry Maland Jr’s place near Buffalo Center with Eddie Skeets and orchestra.

Feldick and Cook wed in Blue Earth Minnesota

Miss Anna Mae Cook and Lawrence Earl Feldick married at First Baptist Church Blue Earth Minnesota on August 14 1948. Ceremony featured garden flower decor and a double ring rite with Rev D D Kennedy. Reception followed for 130 guests with gifts and a short program. Feldick family and neighbors attended. couple will live in Blue Earth Minnesota.
