4-H Fair Planned for Forest City August 16 17

Car Crash Kills Washington Man Near Rockwell City
John Wilkens of Buffalo Center drove a truck that struck a car driven by 71 year old Harry Haas of Takin Washington, last Friday evening nine miles east of Rockwell City. A 12 foot timber plowed into Haas’ front end, killing him instantly. Haas was alone in the car. Wilkens was accompanied by J H Hacker of Mason City. both are employed by Percy Construction Co of Mason City.

Men Help Shock Oats At Lengerman Farm
Forty two men from town and the Henry Lengerman neighborhood gathered at his farm last Friday to shock oats. By evening all cut oats were in the shocks. On Monday several men returned to shock more. Lengerman recently had surgery in Rochester and cannot work, so local boys organized the helping effort as a gesture he greatly appreciates.
