Arsenic Poisoning at Beckham Plantation Claims Livestock Loss

Sixteen men have died and more may follow as arsenic poisoning hits the Beckham upper place owned by Mrs. H. Beckham and run by John Anderson. Arsenic is believed to have contaminated cotton hulls shipped to the plantation, poisoning about 15 of the mules valued at roughly 176 dollars each, causing a severe financial blow.

No Pink Worms Found Near Benchley. Weevils Likely Cause

County Agent Benson reports no pink boll worms in fields visited yesterday near Benchley. Infested cotton showed extensive damage, attributed mainly to boll weevils. In Mr. Hamilton’s waist high field two young bulls were found, discovered by County Commissioner Claude Buchenen.

Pierce-Fordyce Told to Move Plant Outside City Limits

Red Cross Sends Four Boxes Of Articles From Bryan

From Monday's Daily Eagle the Bryan chapter of the Red Cross will ship Tuesday four boxes of articles they have manufactured totaling 3 087 items with 1 128 from the surgical dressing department and 1 958 from the garment department. The list includes gauze rolls bandages sponges towels robes and other medical items. Mrs. Tyler Haswell says the need now is for workers as many Ladies have quit though material remains ready to use.

Interurban Crossings Repair Ordered by City Commission

City commission heard a notice to Bryan and College Interurban and Bryan and Central Texas Interurban to repair street crossings along their tracks. City Manager Levinson offered to fund the work if the city handled it, but the city declined to take on the work.
