Correction on Band Concert Plans for Bryan Sundays

Bandmaster Dunn of the A and M College corrects a Tuesday Eagle item about Sunday concerts in Bryan next spring. He did not claim alternating schedules with Allen Academy. He said if the city builds a band stand at Haswell Park he would explore concerts at College and Bryan on alternating Sundays, not that he controls Allen Academy.

Foot and Mouth Disease Breaks Near Houston Dairy

Officials move to destroy 80 cattle at Molk Dairy Farm between Park Place and Harrisburg as a new outbreak expands the quarantine area. More than 8,000 cattle have been killed in the eradication effort with 200 to 400 more expected. authorities expect rapid containment. The Agriculture Department in Washington says the outbreak is confined to a small area and not spreading into the state.

Fire damages Gainesville newspapers in Sept. blaze

A fire of undetermined origin damaged the Daily Hesperian plant and threatened the neighboring Evening Register in Gainesville. Loss was estimated at $5,000.

Training On In Earnest At Kyle Field

James Sullivan of Texas A M College states that about 50 candidates are being equipped for football. Pre school training starts tomorrow morning with a daily schedule including 5:30 wake up 6:00 breakfast 7:30 practice 9:30 recess 10 12 lectures 4 6 practice and 9:30 bed. Five youths wounded in shotgun attack near Shamrock

Perry Coonse, a Wheeler farmer, is jailed after a shotgun blast struck a car carrying five youths near Shamrock Texas. Victims include sisters Mattie Mabel and Mary Embler and siblings Hick Embler and Cecil Rook. Rook is said to have little chance of recovery. Coonse says he was whipped months earlier and fired after a car hooted at his farm.

Methodist Board of Stewards Votes on Finances

Oldest Steamer in World Destroyed by Fire

KOEPING Sweden Sept 3 The steamer Fenix claimed to be the oldest in active service was destroyed by fire. Built in 1848 at Motala wharf the boat operated between Koeping and Stockholm and had been rebuilt in 1900. At the time 16 passengers plus crew were aboard all escaped unharmed.

A pep meeting on the Bryan County courthouse lawn launched Bryan High School football for 1925 26 with 45 candidates. Coach Puny Wilson from Aggieland spoke to the squad as captain Julian Cobb led the lettermen including Sexton Orms Donald Cole Mike Barron Joe Lloyd Clarence Cloud Horace Dansby Jr J W Hamilton Jr and Curtis Cobb. The schedule lists Iola September 25 Central High Houston October 10 Cameron November 25 with future games against Navasota Caldwell and Hearne to be announced.

History of A and M College Program Highlights Lions Club

Under Lion Miller the Lions program at Episcopal dining room featured soprano Miss Mary Lily Fountain with pianist Mrs. Roy Danforth. F. D. Fuller spoke on the Feed Control Service at A and M College, tracing early cattle feed regulation since the 1880s and Texas adoption. Dean Charles E. Finley then sketched the college’s history from its 1876 opening toward its 50th anniversary, noting land grant roots and early curricula shifts.
