Canning Factory Inspected by Chamber Officials

Brazos County Chamber of Commerce directors and city officials toured the local canning plant on Friday to discuss future needs. They noted the plant handled 60 000 cans and addressed tomato processing for winter use, naming a crop variety Margaret. Local Calvert growers shipped about carloads at 14 cents per pound from a 175 acre crop. President Higgs cautioned Bryan may need a similarly sized plant to start, while cull handling remains a key issue for the area.

The passage catalogues brief reflections: an Erskine sedan insured per Mr. McGee, a line about hope accompanying a wretched man, and a note that a benefit loses grace if overpublished. It also cites Fletcher and Corneille in a compact miscellany tone.
