Confectionery Merchant C. E. Turner Dies at 40

C E Turner who ran a Main street confectionery store died Thursday at 3 PM from pneumonia after about ten days of illness. The Woodmen will conduct the funeral from his home at 3 PM with Rev J J Tatum officiating. He was born in Martin's Ferry Grimes county and is survived by wife two brothers J T Turner Bryan George Turner Iola and sister Mrs George Gilmore Bryan. Parents of Mrs Turner Cicero Woodward Corrigan were at his bedside.

Jones Dies of Pneumonia in Harvey Community

Sam D. Jones a 43 year old prominent farmer of Harvey community died Saturday at his Brazos county home after two weeks illness. He was born in Dallas county Alabama in 1875 came to Texas as a boy and married Ada Ross. Survived by two daughters a brother and a father all residents of Brazos county. Funeral conducted Sunday by Rev J J Tatum Free Baptist church burial in Bethel cemetery. Jones was patriotic supporting government and liberty loan campaigns and a member of the Free Baptist church. He was well known in Harvey community and Bryan with much regret at his passing.

Death of Arthur Zappe in college hospital

Arthur William Zappe 20, member of company 10 S A T C, died at the college hospital Tuesday morning at 7 after a three and a half week illness from influenza and pneumonia. He was a Ballinger High School graduate, in mechanical engineering, and survived by his parents and four siblings.
