Formal Opening of A and M College

The forty first annual session opened at 10 o clock with 1138 students in attendance. Senator Carlos Bee from San Antonio gave the keynote address on student responsibility to Texas, with A E Dechard and Dr Oscar Davis also speaking. President Bizzell announced new faculty as cadets prepared for college night and Freshman Night festivities.

City water crew member injured relaying mains

E Cantro a Mexican city water department worker on 24th street suffered a severe hand injury when a water main was moved and his hand was mashed between the pipe and a cement block. The foreman rushed him to the city for medical care and treatment was given.

Church Remodeling Postponed Until January

At a church building committee meeting of the Methodist church the remodeling of the Wesley Bible class room and the primary department was postponed until January. The project, estimated at about 6000 dollars, may require a rear wall removal and possible 20 feet expansion to serve growing departments. Ed Hall was named chairman and James W. James secretary as plans for a post January fundraising campaign were outlined.

Col Ousley Heads to Washington for Food Campaign

Col Clarence Ousley director of extension at the Agricultural and Mechanical College left yesterday for Washington to seek department cooperation in the feed and food campaign by the Texas Bankers Association and the college. From there he travels to Malden on Hudson to deliver the principal address at Samuel J. Tilden memorial unveiling at the old Bigelow homestead with nationally known figures present.

Bryan Choral Club Formed With Guest Director

Houston musician Ellison Van Hoose will visit Bryan weekly for voice lessons. A Thursday choral club was organized at First Baptist Church with Van Hoose directing. Officers elected include P Hall president and C T Tally vice president, among others, with a member list of many local residents.
