Allen Academy Fire Destroys Two Buildings in Bryan

A blaze swept the wooden John Allen residence and the main Allen academy building in Bryan, destroying both within about ninety minutes. About 70 boys were housed in nearby homes as temporary classrooms and tents were arranged, with community leaders pledging support and the academy planning to resume classes and secure permanent quarters by fall.

Mrs Lizzie Bayinsky aged 78 died Friday evening at her son Albert Bayinsky s home in Bryan. Funeral was held this afternoon at 3 at St Joseph s Catholic church with Rev Father Gleissner officiating. Surviving are Albert Bayinsky Mrs John Keneeney of Bryan and John Bayinsky of Bremond. Son Tom preceded in death.

Military Escort at Sam Cotropia Funeral

The Bryan company of the eighth Texas regiment formed an escort for the body of Sam C Cotropia as it arrived in Bryan by the International and Great Northern. The funeral at the Italian Catholic church was led by Father De Simone with interment in the Catholic cemetery. Captain George Brandon led the soldiers in the procession, joined by many local Italians paying their respects.

Negroes Depart for Camp Bowie at Noon

Twenty nine negroes departed at noon over the International and Great Northern train for Camp Bowie in Fort Worth. The call was for 35 but only 32 men were on hand and three did not report by 10 yesterday morning. They must report by 10 tomorrow or be deserters. A large send-off was given by friends.

Seventeen men of the 32nd Signal Corps Service Company at A and M College have been detailed to the Officers Training School at Camp Meade Maryland on the orders of the chief signal officer and the recommendation of Captain M A Funston. The men have made excellent records at the college.

Old Brazos Citizen J M Royder Dies at Wellborn

J M Royder, long time Brazos county resident and Mason, died at his daughter Mrs Cornelius Wade's home in Wellborn on Wednesday at age 66 years 5 months and 22 days. Funeral held Thursday at 4 30 pm with Free Baptist minister Rev J J Tatum and Masons assisting. He was survived by one child and 14 siblings. He spent most years farming and his health declined recently.

Masterson Rites Held For Prank L Masterson

Prank L Masterson 83 died in a Houston hospital after a Tuesday evening illness. He is survived by his mother Mrs F E Masterson of Beaumont three sisters and two brothers.
