Thomas G Pollard of the University of Texas has been elected to the Van Zandt County district seat in the Texas House of Representatives. French War Cross Goes To Lad Who Captured Gun Nest

Dallas November 25 a French war cross with silver star and citation for exceptional courage was held at the Dallas army recruiting station for Corporal Herman J Lange of the 144th infantry. The decoration awarded by General Petain with Pershing's approbation was sent for delivery. The citation notes Lange near St Etienne October 10 1918 displayed devotion and courage by following the attack under bombardment and capturing machine gun nests aiding his company's advance.

Pittsburg November 25 John Fitzpatrick chairman of the national strike committee said defections of steel strikers have been exceedingly few and the forces at the mills are inexperienced.
