Mrs. D. D. Fowler of Georgetown and son McSwain Fowler of Washington DC visited today with Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Young. McSwain Fowler is a government chemist on leave from Washington and home for the first time in years. No prayer meeting at First Presbyterian due to revival at First Baptist with Rev. Thos G. Watts. Dupree Fountain remains critically ill in a Houston hospital with no improvement. Bryan friends extend sympathy to his wife and children.
The Harvey School presents the play Educatin Mary and a box supper on Friday night November 2. Proceeds fund school equipment and needs as stated by principal Mrs R C Meads.

Guy Cheesman, Beaumont regional manager, tours Bryan for two to three weeks to launch a Gulf Coast Roofing sales campaign. The firm promotes fire proof roof options to meet Bryan’s new ordinance, offering five roofing types and nationwide coverage through M. M. Erskine as local manager for Brazos Burleson Grimes and Robertson counties. The office is in the First National Bank Building.
The Creath-Brazos Baptist Association meeting at the First Baptist Church of Bryan adopted a unanimous resolution opposing any candidate who is an avowed opponent of the Prohibition law or who advocates changing the Eighteenth Amendment and Volstead Act. The 42-church body covers Brazos Grimes Madison Waller and Montgomery counties and urges Christian citizens to oppose liquor traffic allies.

The main topic is the loan value of pecan growing land with Homer D Wade presenting two years of data on soil earnings and M H Gossett of the Federal Loan Bank of Houston speaking on the subject.
W. L. Powers of Powers Confectionery will award a silver football to every Allen Academy player who scores a touchdown this season. Mike Barron is the first recipient after scoring against Temple. The award applies for the entire season and is praised by Captain Abe Barnett.
Hon. Law Henderson spoke to a large crowd at Navasota Monday night. He attacked the Republican party and Herbert Hoover while being cheered by supporters. Mrs. Hortense Ward also addressed the gatherings in Bryan.
Rev J B Gliessner visited Marakeville Milam county yesterday to take part in the parish silver jubilee celebration and the silver jubilee of Rev C Kacer as pastor of the church.
Harvey school pupils request the Bryan Daily Eagle be sent free to their school for seven months. They note parents subscribe for some, urge community uptake, and sign with teachers and the principal. The note ends by stating Harvey students will read the Daily Eagle.
Judge W C Davis addressed a large Calvert crowd in support of Governor Alfred E Smith the Democratic nominee. Dr W H Cummings of Hearne presided and former Congressman Scott Field spoke. Davis denounced Republican abuses and was invited to Hearne for a Friday rally.
The First Presbyterian church of Bryan organized an orchestra and will debut this Sunday. Rev. Thos Gordon Watts says the ensemble is a splendid addition and will become a regular feature in church services.

Clarence Terhune, an American boy stowaway aboard the Graf Zeppelin, will be greeted warmly in Germany. He may obtain a job if desired and will not face police molestation, temporary passport pending. A department store firm has wired him a job offer with terms to be named.
The Brazos County Health Committee will meet Friday at 3 30 p m at the county health nurse office in the courthouse. The time was moved from Saturday due to the Howell Lumber Company Fair. Chairwoman Mrs J L Brock urges full attendance.
Dean E. J. Kyle receives congratulations as his book Fundamentals of Farming and Farm Life is readopted by the State Text Book Commission for use in Texas public schools for the next four years. Governor Dan Moody and State Superintendent S. M. N. Marrs serve on the commission.
Elfrieda Knaak a 30 year old Sunday school teacher in Lakeblufy Illinois burned herself with self torture to prove her faith in spirit love. She suffered serious burns after being found near a furnace in the police station basement. Charles Hitchcock is drawn into the case by Knaak who says she cried for him during the night and that she studied elocution under him.
Houston, Oct. 31. United States District Attorney Henry Holden said he would not personally investigate alleged Hidalgo county election irregularities after a message from Hidalgo county judge A W Cameron inviting a federal inquiry. Cameron denied any law violations and Holden said a formal charge would trigger a standard investigation.
Mrs George L Smart writes from Waterville Maine to Mrs J M Dunn of Bryan detailing the serious illness of her husband Sergeant Geo L Smart. He long served as assistant to the commandant of cadets at A and M College and the couple were well known on campus and in Bryan, drawing many friends who regret the critical condition.
The Texas Cotton Committee met at A and M College in College Station on October 31 with Dr. A B Cox presiding and Victor Schof felmayer as secretary. About 35 prominent cotton figures attended as they discussed production, marketing, and forming a permanent organization. Members included H C McNamara, L B Gabbard, Owen W Sherrill, Fred Newport, A B Conner, and B H Schultz.
Senator-Elect Chas. S. Gainer, chairman of the Smith forces, asks a division of time with the Anti Smith faction at their meetings. The final days of the campaign show broad interest from both sides. Smith Democrats have no remaining dates set for the week.
