Greater Paris project to demolish walls and expand park

Paris plans to tear down the city wall and cede adjacent military land to create a vast park around Paris. New Exchange Store and College Buildings Planned

Contracts for a new Exchange store, Extension Service building and president’s home at the College are to be let if plans materialize with work starting July 1. The Exchange store will face Milner hall and include a confectionery, tailor, shoe shops, and 14 to 16 living rooms above. Occupancy is hoped by October 1, with the Extension building on Pfeiffer hall site and the president’s home rebuilt on the present site.

The International and Great Northern Railway will move its general offices from Houston to Palestine Friday night. About sixty five clerks, plus General Manager A G Whittington and other executives, will relocate, while many employees resign rather than relocate. The auditor's office shows heavy turnover with 75 of 175 staff quitting since March 1 and fifteen vacancies reported.

First Large Wool Sale Sets Prices at San Angelo

In San Angelo on May 29 a first large wool sale paid 47 cents a pound for 60,000 pounds short fleece and 44 cents for 115,000 pounds twelve months clip. San Angelo is the nation’s largest inland wool shipping point, with 3 to 4 million pounds expected to concentrate there by midsummer.
