Onion Industry Decides on Market Plan in Texas referendum
Texas onion growers and shippers weigh a marketing agreement covering 44 counties. The tentative plan establishes shipment regulation, a 12 member control board split evenly between shippers and producers, district nominating committees, and an assessment system. A referendum requires signatures from shippers representing half the volume and two thirds of producers.
