Amsterdam June 26 Chancellor von Hertling told the reichstag there would be no further discussion of President Wilsons fourteen peace principles He frowned on the league of nations as inimical to Germany He said peace talk would be seen as weakness and defense as German militarism The speech of von Kuehlmann followed Hertling with less enthusiasm.

Women Registering to Vote in July Primaries

Miss Mary Locke of Zack Texas received registration receipt No 1 as County Collector McCulloch began issuing to women who expect to vote in the July 27 primaries. Receipts Nos 2 3 and 4 were issued to Mrs J L Hensarling Wellborn Mrs Eula Buchanan precinct 11 and Mrs Ed E Talmage precinct 11 respectively. Registration continues through July 12 the last day. Mrs Hensarling says women should vote and take active part in politics for a clean ballot and good government.

Senate panel backs rail bill extending government hold on lines

Washington June 26 after a committee amendment to prevent relinquishment of federal control over one railway while keeping control over a competitor the senate commerce committee reported favorably a bill extending to January the period during which the government can return roads to private owners.

Obituary: Mrs Lucy Thomas Dies After Illness

Mrs Lucy Thomas died after four weeks of illness at Bryan hospital. The funeral is set for 5 pm at her daughter Mrs Sample’s Cottonwood home with Rev Smith officiating. She was 65, born in the county, preceded in death by her husband.
