Drowning at College Station during swim about fishpond

From Monday's Daily Hagie Gordon Shakiett of San Antonio a freshman at A M College drowned around 11 o clock while swimming with a comrade in the fishpond lake three miles southwest of the college. Comrade R C Faulkner dived for the body but could not reach it. the body was recovered at 1 p m and sent to Bryan. Parents in San Antonio were notified.

Young Mexican delivery boy saves drowning friend at local swimming site

Joe Rayna a thirteen year old Mexican delivery boy for David B Reid acted bravely yesterday at Tabor's tank near Bryan when eight year old playmate Manuel Rodriguez struggled in deep water. Rayna pulled him from the pool and kept him from drowning until help arrived. The Rodriguez boy regained his breath and walked home unharmed.

Austin, Texas June 25 The Belle of Austin a long serving excursion launch made a final voyage on steel cars to Lake Worth after a long history on Lake Austin and the Niagara River It sailed first on the Niagara River then Lake Erie as a steam powered boat before being rebuilt and finally removed to make way for the new dam and lake restoration.
