Lawler seeks permission to build two electric lines in Texas
J T Lawler of Bryan and attorney C V Lansberry Round Rock filed an amended petition with County Clerk Fred Malone asking the commissioners court for permission to build and operate an electric line from the Travis Williamson county line to Pflugerville and a second line to McNeil. They seek rights to run on property along the Round Rock to two towns highway and to erect poles at least 22 feet high. Construction would begin once preliminary arrangements are in place.

Reverend C B Thompson and his wife returned from a Christian Endeavor Convention held in Wichita Falls. The final meeting featured 33 young people committing to full time ministerial and missionary service. They traveled from Bryan through Dallas in rainy conditions with washed out bridges noted between Henrietta and Bowie. Crop reports varied from poor to improving with better areas near Dallas and around Wichita Falls.

Over Forty Die in Delaware Lackawanna Wreck

At the Union services in New Assembly Hall College Station Rev. Jesse C. Thomson reported a total church membership of 153 with 31 baptisms and 16 by letter. The group runs three Epworth Leagues, a Sunday School of about 200, nine classes, and has tied four study units. Members raised nearly $1,000 for all purposes, with campus membership around 50 and $519.44 raised for the budget. Parsonage improvements cost about $250, and debts include $209 on Tabernacle locally and $1,800 on Tabernacle through the conference. The major need is a new parsonage. The Methodist Tabernacle at A. and M. College serves many students. Rev. King Vivian started the work five years ago, with Rev. Jesse C. Thomson arriving December 1, 1924.

Capt Wade Pioneer Educator Dies at 88 in Elgin
Captain F. S. Wade age 88 longtime Elgin resident and Confederate veteran died at his home after a lifetime as a church member and community figure. He taught school in Southern Illinois Missouri before moving to Texas in 1857 teaching at Union Hill Burton and Lawrence Chapel in Williamson County. He was father of Homer D. Wade of Fort Worth and known across Brazos County.

Salt Water Pollution Covers Navasot River After Court Order
State Fish and Game Warden F W Burford says a district court order forced oil firms in Limestone county to dump stored salt water into the Navasot river. Liquor Raid Detains Alec Capps at Ursuline Avenue

Chicago June 17 Today ends the state's case against William Shepherd as Charles Faiman proprietor of the National University of Sciences Chicago is set to be the final state witness. Faiman testified he taught Shepherd how to kill a rich youth for 100000 and supplied typhoid germs for the deed. Nurse Miss Marie Hall who cared for McClintock was the morning witness.

Large Bone Found in Brazos River by J T Warren
J T Warren who lives above Koppe bridge near the Brazos river found a remarkably large bone while fishing today and brought it to Texas A and M College for Dr Mark Francis to evaluate. The bone measures 27 inches long 12 inches around the narrowest part and weighs about 25 pounds. If valuable Warren will donate it to the college.
