Magnificent grain crop harvested in Brazos this year
From Friday's Daily Eagle the wheat and oats crop in Brazos County jumped from nothing last year to very considerable proportions this year. Ed Covey and Mr. Kirby bought a binder and thresher to aid grain growers. Covey's farm northwest of the city yields 75 acres in oats and ten in wheat, with oats on the Seth Mooring place standing waist high and head heavy. Mooring will feed his oats in the sheaf. The grain may be kept for feed or flour, with wheat going to the local mill for growers. If smut is controlled in fall planting, next year’s acreage and yield should rise substantially.
