Paul Wattaknabba, a prominent Yale student from Japan, visited Bryan to speak to children and preach at the Baptist church. His life story includes Yale studies, earlier schooling in Bryan, and preparation for ministry. He plans to attend a World Sunday School convention en route to Japan.

Red Cross to supply doctor and nurse for Farm Boys Special

A letter dated July 16 1920 from Robert E Bondy assistant manager of the 8 S W Division American Red Cross states the division will furnish a doctor and a nurse for the educational tour aboard the Texas A and M College Farm Boys Special in August. The Red Cross will pay salaries and expenses and requests the itinerary leaving date and equipment details.

Red Cross Announces War Risk Insurance Reinstatement

The Brazos County Red Cross informs ex service men of a liberal new rule TD 61 W BR effective July 1 1920 allowing reinstatement or conversion of lapsed War Risk Term Insurance with two monthly premiums and health requirements met by the director of the Bureau of War Risk Insurance. Rev Ramsey Returns From Missouri Visit

Rev. P. T. Ramsey, pastor of the Methodist church, arrived home Friday from a two week visit to his mother in Birch Tree Missouri. He plans to lead services next Sunday and announcements will appear in the Eagle Saturday. He did not meet Champ Clark or Jim Reed.

Three Brazos County Boys Win Trip Examinations

Examination held at Bryan High School selected Thurston Etheridge J D Jones and Thomas Kirby as top winners for the Texas Farm Boys Special trip. Twenty of eighty club boys took part with six judges scoring written records and oral responses, as prizes funded by local sponsors.

In Waco on July 19 Sheriff Buc hanan and Deputy Barton busted a major auto theft ring. They arrested a leader and gathered evidence to locate eight stolen cars. The scheme involved registering fake numbers higher than factory issues and swapping engine numbers before attaching State seals. Mrs. W. C. Gorman of Oakwood Texas formerly Minnie Hunter of Huntsville died at Palestine Sanitarium on Saturday night July 16 She was the elder of six children of Capt James T Hunter a staff officer of the late Gen Hood The Hood Brigade reunion at Bryan June 28 29 and 30 saw her in attendance She was a cherished figure among the old soldiers and will be missed at future reunions

First 1920 Mexican cotton bale ginned near Matamoros

The first bale of the 1920 Mexican cotton crop was ginned July 7 at Ranchita las Olivarez, 45 miles south of Matamoros. It was grown by former Matamoros mayor Conrado Gutierrez and shipped to mills in Mexico City due to an American quarantine over pink boll worm.

Local resident Roger Q Astin recounts three dreams about oil at a Braz os Bottom farm near Mooring Well No 1. In the first dream an airplane lands near a gushing oil well. In the second dream a derrick drills and oil pours at an estimated daily rate of 1000 to 2000 barrels. The sequence ends with the belief the third dream will foretell a major oil gusher in the Bottom within weeks.

Eight Feet Sudan Grass Grows On Crenshaw Farm

W N Crenshaw left a sample of his Sudan grass at the Eagle office Thursday. He has an acre of this grass which reaches eight feet in height. The first crop will be cut soon and the second crop will begin to grow immediately. When Sudan starts early in the year a late fall three crops are often harvested.

Auto Collision on College Road With No Lights

A night crash on College Road involved two cars, both without lights. Prof. Paul Ferguson in a Ford coupe collided with a Ford touring car driven by federal student Ruben D. Gordon. both vehicles suffered extensive damage and the drivers sustained minor injuries.

Amendment City Charter Carries in Tiny Vote

In yesterday's city election a charter amendment passed 165 to 72 with 235 total votes. It raises the school tax limit from 50 to 75 cents, allowing the commission to levy up to the full 25 cent increase as needed for city schools. Election officials were A. K.
