Carranza delays reply on American soldiers in Chihuahua

Washington reports Special Agent Rodgers in Mexico City expects Carranza to answer today on the note demanding the release of American soldiers held at Chihuahua. Critical at Nogales

On June 28 at Nogales Sonora eight Mexican soldiers attempted to cross the American line. A U S sentry post repelled them and Major Brooke ordered his troops to shoot anyone acting suspiciously if a shot was fired compelling a possible crossing.

Lightning Strike Kills Henry Lenz at Kurten

Henry Lenz of Kurten was killed when a bolt of lightning struck the east chimney of his home shortly after 4 PM while he sought shelter from a storm. The blast shattered the mantel and clock, killed a chicken, and left the family of a wife and a five-year-old daughter in mourning. funeral services were held at 3 PM with Rev. Freeland and burial in Kurten cemetery.
