Historical Texas relics in Colonel Dunn’s possession

The article recounts how two Sam Houston era soldiers sought to melt lead for ammunition at a pioneer camp near San Jacinto. A pioneer girl melted and poured lead using an iron bread spoon, later owned by Colonel Dunn. Also described is a Sheffield steel knife taken from Santa Anna after the battle, exchanged in a wager, now in Dunn’s care, with a razor edge and engraved Mexican thistle handle. The knife’s origin traces to an old English firm about 125 years old.
