Reeves Family Killed by Neighboring Farmer

Henry Waller, a 33 year old farmer from the Minden area, planned and carried out the murder of John Nelson Reeves, his wife, and three children at their home on Christmas Eve. Three Black helpers reportedly confessed, were jailed in Baton Rouge, and alleged to be accomplices.

Freight Steamship Chicago City Attacked by Submarine

The British freight steamship Chicago City, sailing from Bristol, was fired on and stopped by a German submarine December 14, about 120 miles off Fastnet.
