Six Convicts Re-captured After Escape From Prison

Authorities report six convicted inmates re captured and twenty seven escapees from Blue Ridge Prison last Tuesday night. The incident prompted a manhunt and security reviews across facilities in the region. Police say all six recaptured are back in custody and investigations continue.

Six of 27 Mexican convicts recaptured after Blue Ridge escape

Six of the 27 escapees were recaptured near Blue Ridge prison farm in Texas. Four are held in Houston and two at Blue Ridge. Posses from state, city and county police search for the remaining prisoners. The men tunneled from the west stockade and crawled through a floor hole before fleeing into nearby woods.

Traces of Severe Snow Storm Remain in City

Small patches of snow linger in shaded spots while awnings and tree limbs show damage from the unprecedented storm Monday night. The weight toppled branches and caused scattered debris across the city, leaving few lasting traces of the heavy snowfall.

Dr Hobdy Returns From Inspection At Falfurrias Ranch

Dr William M Hobdy of the federal Bureau of Animal Industry who studies cattle tuberculosis returned to Bryan after several days at Falfurrias. He completed tubercular tests on 2700 head for Ed Lassiter with no reactions found. He plans further testing in Bryan and nearby areas.

Fire destroys negro hut beyond city limits

Monday night about eleven o'clock a fire alarm sent the fire truck to a negro hut beyond the western city limits. Lacking water the structure burned completely, with an estimated loss of $500 to $700. A few articles of furniture were taken by onlookers. response was slow due to a snowstorm.

Eberstadt Explains Beggar Control To Bryan Reading Club

Secretary S. E. Eberstadt of the Bryan Chamber of Commerce spoke at the Bryan Reading Club in Carnegie Library about credentialed solicitations. He urged clubwomen to refuse all uncredentialed solicitors and to encourage others to do the same. He noted credentials come from the Good Cheer Association and urged cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce city and Good Cheer. Violators may be removed under city ordinance. He plans to address the Delphian club next Friday at the request of its president.

Runaway Team Stages Noon On Main Street

A runaway buggy team frightened by a passing train traveled south on Main Street during the noon hour. The rig, parked near 24th Street, struck a lamp post at Smith Drug corner breaking a street lamp globe. the driver, a Black man, lost control and the buggy suffered minor damage.

Interscholastic Meet Planned for Brazos County at College

The Interscholastic League Meet for Brazos County is set for March 14 at College Station. About 75 percent of county schools entered with events including debates, declamations, essays, track, tennis, spelling, music memory, and athletic events. Oil drilling to start on Cuthrell Well Number 2

W. P. Trant returned from Navotas today and met with John Cuthrell in Navasota. Cuthrell reported unloading a car of machinery at Carlos in Grimes County and planning three more cars to unload, after which drilling would begin on Cuthrell Well Number 2.
