The Federal Farm Board seeks a first step in self help by urging Southern farmers to cut cotton acreage by at least 6 million acres from last year's plantings. This tentative target, derived from data compiled by Dr. C. C. Stine of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, aims to stabilize marketing and help growers after this year's sale.
