Munitions Plant Burns at General Electric Facility

A General Electric munitions plant in Schenectady New York was wrecked by fire today. The company fire department extinguished the blaze and withheld information from city and fire authorities. The building, a small shell casing unit, was destroyed.

Fifteen killed in air raid over Ravenna area

Austrian planes raided Ravenna and nearby towns in northeastern Italy yesterday. Fifteen people were killed and several injured, including women and children. A hospital and the basilica of St Appollinaire at Ravenna were damaged. The church dates to the 6th century and was consecrated in 549.

Texas Population Rapidly Grows

By Asscred Press. Washington, Feb. 14. The census bureau estimate for July 1916 lists Texas population at 4,130,000, up 75,000 in the year and 330,000 since 1910.

Carranza officials inform the state department of reports a plot to blow up the battleship Kentucky in Vera Cruz harbor. Consul Canada is alleged to be involved. The aim is to force American intervention.

House Will Consider Prohibition Amendment This Session

Mrs. Carrie W. Renner died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. A. Adams in Bryan on Saturday at 6:15 PM. Her body was sent to Natchez Mississippi for burial. She was 55, considered in good health until last week, and the cause was acute enlargement of the heart.

Four Executions Enacted in Harris County Hangings

In Houston on February 15, Herbert Sampson, a Black man, was hanged for murder as the second of four scheduled Harris County executions. Henry Sampson, also Black, followed for killing Charles Bourgeois, a White storekeeper. The third execution, Henry Tennell, a Black man, is set for tomorrow for assaulting a Black girl with the fourth, Frank B. Mikeska, a White man, planned for March 10 for the murder of his wife at Crosby.

Ten Die In Copper Mine Fire In Montana

By Associated Press. Butte Montana Feb 15 At least ten miners were killed when a copper mine fire roared through a shaft late last night. Dozen others are missing as crews battle the blaze. The first victim was found 1,200 feet below the surface. The cause remains unknown.

President W B Bizzell will leave for Stillwater Oklahoma to visit the Agricultural and Mechanical College.
