Wartime Prohibition Act Upheld by Supreme Court
The Supreme Court ruled wartime prohibition constitutional, upholding appeals from Kentucky and New York. The decision allowed removal from bond of about seventy million gallons of whisky valued at seventy five million dollars and dissolved injunctions against revenue officials. Justice Brandeis stated the armistice did not end wartime powers and export remained a path for the liquor.

Supreme Court Arguments On Wartime Prohibition And Enforcement
In Washington on December 15 1919 three appeals questioned wartime prohibition and the enforcement laws. Kentucky challenged the former statute while New York cases upheld both acts affecting vast whisky holdings and bond releases. Jacob Ruppert challenged authority to manufacture beer with 2.75 percent alcohol as Elihu Root contended the measures overstep powers.
