George Bengener Killed Near Austin in Truck Crash

George Bengener Jr. of Austin, driver for the San Antonio Express, was killed early today on the Austin Granger road when a newspaper truck overturned on a embankment and pinned him underneath. The accident occurred a few miles outside the city, and no help could reach him in time.

The last meeting of the division of animal industry at Texas A&M reported on veterinary activities during the exposition. Prof R P Marsteller spoke on veterinary medicine and surgery while Prof W L Stangel described the intercollegiate judging contest. Pryor Removed as Prison Commissioner in Texas

Former Commissioner W. G. Pryor was ousted by order of Judge Cooper Sansom of the Twenty-Sixth District Court in Travis and Williamson counties. The suspension was made permanent after Pryor’s attorney did not object, and Walker Sayles was appointed to the post. Governor Neff had previously appointed Sansom and Pryor appealed to the Supreme Court without success.

Older Boys Conference to be Held at College in Texas

The Y M C A Older Boys Conference will return to A and M College of Texas for three days of study in late January. January 26 27 and 28 are tentatively set for the next gathering. John A Erhard said the event, now in its third year at the college, drew over five hundred high school boys last spring. Prominent educators will keynote the program while the college hosts and arranges activities to showcase student life and hospitality.

Jackson Ky Dec 15 The first use of tar gas in pursuit of criminals in Kentucky is scheduled by national guardsmen hunting three moonshiner mob members who attacked Breathitt county jail killing a man John Williams and fatally wounding a woman. Methodist to Build a Church at College

The Methodist commission officers from five Texas conferences met at College Station to plan a temporary tabernacle and a parsonage on a lot north of the campus. A $10,000 fund will start construction after deeds are signed, with future permanent buildings proposed for early 1922. The group toured the campus lunching with the Methodist Men's Club at Ibsa hall.

Mysterious notice posted for Tom Curry in 1920s issue

Gorky foresees 35 million Russian famine deaths

Maxim Gorky, visitor to Stockholm en route to Berlin, told The Associated Press he believes famine in Russia could claim 35,000,000 lives. He praised American relief but urged international aid on an American plan with safeguards to prevent theft, criticizing Hoover’s relief as imperfect and too trusting of the Soviet. He criticized France, excused Germany, and called Sweden’s aid only a drop. He noted unrest in Petrograd amid recent bloodshed, saying people cannot live on government bloodshed.
