London reports a medical bulletin on King George the Sixth condition noting renewed chest infection activity. Despite earlier sign of improvement, rising temperature prompted renewed concern though officials say the recrudescence is moderating and last night was fairly comfortable for the King.
The column reports a statewide campaign to spare holly and then suggests applying the same message to the plentiful yupon. It laments past loss of Carter's Creek and Navasota river holly trees and warns that continued Christmas cutting will make yupon scarcer in years ahead.
Seventeen race horses were killed in a barn fire at the Fairmount Jockey Club in Collinsville Illinois. The $82,000 loss includes horses stabled at the club and surrounding facilities.
Former Senator Joseph Weldon Bailey is named chief speaker for the University of Texas School of Law banquet on Monday December 10. State high court judges will attend. Delta Phi Delta plans a humorous banner inscription and initiates a slap election for neophytes. Perigrinus, patron saint of the law school, will appear with guards as speakers from each class address the gathering.
Wilmington report states United States Senator Dupont of Delaware has resigned his seat due to health reasons. His departure leaves a vacancy in the Senate, prompting potential succession considerations.
In Spoulton, a Missouri Pacific switch engine backed around a blind curve and struck a street car, injuring sixteen people including five seriously. Most victims were Mexican and Black. more than thirty escaped injury as the trolley was demolished.
A man held at the county jail on suspicion of attempting to enter the Mitchell home in Bryan via Houston from San Antonio gives the name Willis Lewis. His examining trial date is not set as officers continue clues to catch prowlers who have been entering Bryan homes in recent days.
Missionary Institute and Pastors Conference of the Huntsville District will meet Thursday at 10 AM at First Methodist Church in Huntsville. Attendees from Bryan include Rev and Mrs R S Marshall, Mrs E W Crenchaw, Co R Gardner, Oak McKenzie, and Rev and Mrs Jesse Thomson of College Station.
In McKinney on December 5 a robber looted Tidwell's Jewelry Store of about 2000 to 3000 dollars while passersby watched, thinking he was arranging stock for the holiday rush.
Nineteen alleged gunmen racketeers from Chicago and Buffalo were seized in a downtown Cleveland hotel raid. Police said the gang appeared to have gathered for an executive session.

The Texas forestry display at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, featuring 125 standard native tree specimens, won the grand prize. Committee includes Travis B Bryan C M Mitchell J N Dulaney Tom G Suber Wm Wimberly Chas F Hillier R C Franks J Tom Smith and several ladies.
The College of Marshall football team plays Blinn Memorial College at Kyle Field Friday under Coach Joel Hunt. The telegram from the Athletic Association urges boosting attendance and notes Marshall is undefeated by junior colleges.
San Angelo December 5 W E Cottingham independent geologist has been elected president of the West Texas Geological Society A L Ackers Midland was named vice president and Stanley Jay San Antonio was chosen secretary-treasurer.
New York, Dec 5. National Chairman John Raskob will call a conference of Democratic leaders shortly after Christmas to discuss organization plans and a four year program. The meeting will be informal and likely without definite action. Raskob’s retention of the chairmanship depends on party leaders’ attitudes.
The Ep is copal Guild hosts its annual holiday bazaar on Friday afternoon December 7 at 2 30 at the parish house. Twelve bridge tables will seat about fifty players amid pleasant surroundings and merchants across Texas have donated valuable offerings for the bazaar. Members and helpers invite a large crowd to attend and enjoy the event.
Chicago December 5 E B Reeser was chosen president of the American Petroleum Institute by its directors succeeding F E W Clark of California.
Wichita Falls reports a chilly 27 degree low while Texline records 20 as Northwest Texas endures the coldest spell of the season today with widespread frigid conditions.
College Station Dec 5 The Texas A and M Aggies under Coach C F Bassett begin daily drills with 22 cage candidates for the 1928-29 season after releasing seven football players to focus on the opening game December 14 against Sam Houston Teachers Huntsville.
K C Gar ga of Punjab India a student at A and M College spoke on the caste system in India to Bryan Lions Club noting eradiation progress and criticizing The Mother of India as fifty to seventy five percent wrong. The program was led by Lion W E Paulson with guests D M Smith of Dallas and others in attendance. A special January 3 meeting was set with Luncheons waived for Christmas and New Year’s.
William Allen White, famed editor of the Emporia Gazette, speaks at the Dallas Open Forum. He is introduced by Max Strang and will discuss "The Citizen's Business" as part of a public affairs program at the Assembly Hall tonight.
The First Christian church elected Judge L. D. McGee and J. Allen Myers elders emeritus for life in recognition of over fifty years as church members. The honor is described as worthy and fitting.
In Kansas City on December 5 the oil boom moved into three states with new field openings. The Marland Produ Company's well north of Wichita yielded about 7 000 barrels daily, Oklahoma City's back door reported an initial 2 500 barrel flow, and the Texon Company invested 135 000 dollars in a third well flowing 20 barrels per hour of 51.6 gravity oil.
A sparse turnout of 129 ballots approved the City Commission sale of City Hall to Schulman & Son for $40,000. Four votes opposed the sale as 125 supported it, signaling a new city hall to suit Bryan's administration needs.
President Coolidge urged Congress to approve a bill for fifteen cruisers and one aircraft carrier. He called for a Federal farm board with a Treasury revolving fund to aid orderly crop marketing. The plan included railroad consolidation to cut costs and various river harbor and flood projects already authorized. There was a Colorado River irrigation and water supply project, private power on the river, Muscle Shoals lease for nitrates and power, oil and natural resources conservation on public land, continued strict immigration policy, and federal enforcement of the eighteenth amendment with state cooperation.
Rush M. Caldwell, newly elected president, will convene a Dallas meeting of teachers to seek larger state funds for rural schools and retirement provisions after specified service. He notes a constitutional amendment may be needed and the conference may push appointing a state superintendent of instruction.
Packs in several districts roam villages and rails causing alarm. One man was attacked and killed while a dairymaid survived a wolf encounter and later became mute with fright. A trackwalker drove wolves away from a railway by flashing a lantern as trains approached. Other pack attacks are reported.

Quail hunters report a scare of birds this year and Bryan folks tend their gardens for turnips and greens. Jno E Blair notes Texas Longhorns win Southwestern football title and A and M fans cheer the champions. The weather brought a cool memorable frost.
Dr. T. C. Hart, a Odessa physician, was found Monday morning in the Davis Mountains after being lost since Saturday. He had gone on a deer hunt with his son and friends. separation on Saturday led to a multi day search by Pecos and Toyah parties before his discovery near Toyah.
