Arrest of Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovitch Reported

Amsterdam reports from Berlin that former Russian Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovitch has been arrested by the Bolsheviks. He is uncle of the late emperor and father of Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovitch, recently named an honorary captain in the British army.

British forces on a ten mile front between Arras and Albert advance north of the Ancre river with progress reported. Courcelles Achiet le Petit Beaucourt Moyenville Beaucourt Sur Ancre captured. Generals and Colonels Put in Jail

Rumbberdase reports several hundred officers arrested in Moscow have been shot per the Frankfort Zeitung. Some who renounced Russian citizenship and obtained German or Polish passes were released at the German consul general request. others were imprisoned. Included among the imprisoned were former generals and colonels.

Washington August 21. War Department orders muster into federal service the second and sixth regiments of the Texas National Guard for limited duty on the Mexican border. Papers for other regiments pending. expect all regiments to be federalized within a week for similar service.

Montreal Aug 21 Stocks of news print on hand in United States mills on Aug 10 were the lowest on record according to R S Kelley secretary of the news print service bureau New York at its quarterly meeting Production in Canada rose slightly in 1918 over 1917 but reduced U S output pushed total news print manufactured 8 percent below last year and total mill stocks on hand July 3 down 41 percent from 1917 levels.
