Wells Oil Field Adjusts to New Proration Orders
Militiamen and operators prepared to wait two weeks or more for the railroad commission to adopt a conservation measure. A proration order is expected after Aug 25 as the body considers measures to protect oil and gas reserves. Prices linger near stability with hopes for $1 per barrel, while unemployment fears fade as most companies keep workers on with varied pay arrangements. Storage in East Texas equals about 3.5 million barrels, pipelines and refineries stay active, and operators hold oil until prices rise. General Wolters says operators are satisfied. Governor Sterling commends the action as a successful, uneventful outcome.
