Harrell pushes tariff duty on crude oil in Senate
In Washington on August 16 Senator Harrell Republican of Oklahoma urged tariff duties on crude petroleum and crude oil as the sole shield for independent U.S. oil producers against a perceived monopoly led by the Standard and Doheny group. He charged that key companies control Mexico’s oil and hold vast California Wyoming and Middlewest refining stakes, arguing the tariff would raise government revenue and aid independents.
