Alexander Campbell Parker, once a Dallas Christian church pastor and reputed Texas millionaire, was exonerated in New York federal court on five year old fraud charges tied to oil promotion. Four Black residents perished in an eight story Chicago apartment fire. A three year old child and a man died inside the building. Two women jumped from the seventh story and were killed. Several others were injured in the panic and rescue efforts.

Aged Newsboy Killed as Car Is Pushed Off Track

Beaumont April 28. Montgomery Thompson 77, known as an aged newsboy, was fatally injured when a stalled car on a grade crossing was pushed off the railroad tracks. The vehicle mounted the sidewalk and crushed a partition between a shoe shine stand and a shoe store as the gear wheels passed over his body.

Evangelical Lutheran Synod to Form America Union

At the fifth annual Texas District convention in San Antonio on April 28, plans for amalgamating the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Ohio Iowa and Buffalo are proposed. The merger would unite about 2500 congregations and more than 1600 pastors to create the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of America.
