Local residents and visitors flock to Bryan socials

A stream of guests and locals gathered in Bryan today and over the weekend. Princess Inez Boswell of Hearne will attend the Kaufman carnival at A and M and stay with Miss Ruth Pender. A. O. U. W. delegates from Texas prepare for a Little Rock convention. Many names and towns appear as residents, visitors, and shoppers fill the reports.

Auto turns turtle on Houston and Texas Central tracks

A tourist party crossing the tracks at 24th street was overturned after their car hit a low mood in the road. Mrs. Scott’s purse was dropped and later recovered by a negro boy. Driver 8S. J. Maris of Franklin, with Mrs. Mathis, her son, and Lily Scott, suffered minor injuries as the steering gear failed.

Hog car shipped to Fort Worth market by local dealer

J. W. Hunnicutt a local stock dealer shipped a carload of fat hogs to the Fort Worth market yesterday. Some hogs were raised at the A and M college and the rest bought from farmers in the surrounding country.

Rural High School in County Sets Tone for Ag Education

At Tabor yesterday evening the baccalaureate sermon was delivered to six graduates by Rev. Charlton H. Storey, with T O Walton stressing self sufficiency in food production. The rural school, the county’s only one, plans a teacher residence and a five acre expansion to deepen farm oriented study tied to Texas A&M.

Patriotic Parade Scheduled in Bryan Next Saturday Afternoon

A patriotic parade will be held in Bryan next Saturday at 3 30 p m forming in front of the Bryan hotel and marching down Main street to the city park where a flag gifted by Miss Ona Astin will be raised to honor Capt. Fred Cavitt. The A and M college band will play and residents will join in America. Speakers include Col. Clarence Ousley Hon W C Davis Judge Doremus Mrs W L Talife ro and Mrs M W Sims. The parade features the Bryan Light Guards Elks Knights of Pythias Allen Academy boys boy scouts and many civic groups.
