Tailless Cats of Bis marck Archipelago Spark Folklore
In the Bis marck archipelago cats are widespread with no tails. Locals fear remnants of food can curse eaters, so a clever thief cut off cat tails and hid them to deter theft. The plan aimed to deter stealing by causing illness from stolen cat meat, reflecting a peculiar local superstition.
