Dr White warns public and staff will prosecute those who conceal yellow fever cases leading to jail for offenders. Federal authorities tighten response as new cases appear, with warnings of emergency hospital and reporting duties for suppressors.
Lincoln Neb Sept 15 A letter from Hon W J Bryan to President Roosevelt outlines a plan for a permanent peace through an impartial international board. He congratulates Roosevelt on Russia and Japan settlement and urges Congress to authorize submission of all disputes to a board for investigation and report to prevent wars and reduce danger of conflict.
Cincinnati reports at least five suspected yellow fever cases from the south, among 200 refugees on the Queen and Crescent line. Mrs Roan Mrs Stone Tallulah La Walter Smith and Miss Stockner of Lake Providence La were taken to a branch hospital after an ambulance met the train. The rest continued on, fifty arriving penniless with heavy baggage. In Pensacola Florida Noaces Greek died and J L Johnson Florida Myles and Albert White a bank clerk were new cases reported Friday noon.
Miss Alice Roosevelt with Mrs. Rockhill and Mrs. Newlands met the dowager empress in a formal audience at the summer palace in Pekin. The empress toured the grounds with visitors and exchanged bracelets and rings as gifts. The visit was noted for its informality and concluded with an at home at the German minister’s residence. In Lexington on September 15 three yellow fever patients were kept aboard a Queen and Crescent train carrying 200 refugees from Tallulah and Lake Providence. Two physicians traveled with the group toward Cincinnati to treat the ill as authorities tried to manage the outbreak. Mississippi summary notes new cases in Mississippi City and Vicksburg, with Wasdin reporting a case in Soria City.
