County Tax Assessor J. H. McCullough reports higher county value this year with total assessed value at 6,954,417 dollars and total taxes due 59,543.91. County value rises 341,752 dollars versus last year, while taxes collected decrease by 225.26 dollars.
In district court fair progress is reported in the damage case of M Wolfe & Co versus H T C R Co with a decision expected before late next week. The plaintiff finished prima facie evidence yesterday afternoon, and the defendant presented its first witness. One divorce was granted yesterday. The grand jury returned two more indictments and adjourned until Monday.

The funeral for Steve Lobello who died at his parents home two miles west of Bryan was held Friday at St. Antonio church with Rev Father De Simone officiating. Music by the church choir. Procession to the city cemetery followed, nearly half a mile long. Pallbearers named Chas Noto Philip Noto Luke Muro Angelo Schumacher Tony Reconto Joe Cangeloco. Lobello part of prominent Italian family, large attendance reflected esteem.
