New York report states Young Corbett and J I Gordon the English featherweight champion are matched to duel for the world featherweight title. The bout is planned for mid December at Hayes Valley Athletic Club in San Francisco with twenty rounds. Each fighter posts a 2500 dollar forfeits with Harry Corbett on Gordon's arrival. A late night fire at Grady hospital, the citys largest, destroyed the negro ward and endangered over a score of patients. Two negro women died from the excitement, not injuries. Twenty two negro men and women were moved to nearby homes as the children's ward escaped damage and three inmates were moved safely. Nurses shielded patients amid heavy smoke and the property loss was small.
