Subtreasurer Fer rar of St. Louis received a warning from W. H. Moran in Washington about counterfeit ten dollar notes from the 1901 silver certificate series. The fakes use two sheets of tissue, green and red lines inside, and a grayish face due to low quality ink. the back is nearly perfect, making detection difficult without close inspection.
