The Central Texas Fair Roing and Roping Delights Crowds
The second day drew large crowds at the Central Texas Fair with roping contests where five entries competed. J B Matcek won first prize in 1 29 for roping a Madison county steer, John W Hicks second in 2 15, Henry Maresch third in 5 minutes, W Payne fourth in 1 30 after a late redraw due to steer breakouts. Afternoon races and an artillery drill drew further cheering spectators amid lively incidents. A political note warns every minute of a strike costs Republican votes as Cleveland fears tariff battles may push Democrats aside.
