Rates to Louisiana and other oil shipments in dispute
In Chicago on October 14 Judge Ferriss examined the railroad rate issue in the government suit to dissolve Standard Oil. Waters-Pierce vice president A M Finley testified that in 1894 the Iron Mountain line gave 15 cents per 100 pounds to Alexandria and 25 cents to Alexandria itself, with cross examination exploring undisclosed Louisiana rates. A stolen Standard Oil code book was found in Muskogee, and London crowds surrounded Bow Street court over suffragette arrests. Loeb denied Roosevelt’s agreement with Keefe on immigration commissioner, and British warships arrived near Rhodes.
