Yonkers Editor Guilty of Criminal Libel Against Jerome
Frank E. Xavier editor of the Yonkers Herald was convicted by a White Plains jury of criminal libel against District Attorney Jerome. Counsel sought to set aside the verdict as insufficient evidence, with Judge Blatt to hear arguments next week. The charge stemmed from a paper alleging Jerome had an agreement with insurance interests to back his gubernatorial bid if insurers were not indicted.

Steen Suicide Shocks New Orleans Port Leaders
