Yosemite at Guam wrecks reef. five drowned in typhoon aftermath
A United States auxiliary cruiser Yosemite near San Luis d'Apra Guam struck a reef while drifting after parting cables. Five crewmen drowned and the rest were rescued by a collier. Governor Bator Schroeder, aboard, had left active command to Lt. Augustus N. Madier. Guam suffered a devastating typhoon on Nov. 13 flattening towns Indrajan and Terra Fore and destroying cocoanut crops.
