Pumper Assured as Somerville Oil Venture Advances
Somerville Texas November 22. The Mound Prairie Oil Company continues to attract attention after a recent strike. Promoter Mr Brown says a well will be brought in within four or five days after cleaning and setting eight feet of strainer pipe. The company, formed by local Somerville men with Joe W Wood as president, has expanded stock to about $8,000 from an original $3,000. The eight mile field lies near the Brazos bottom with piping planned to Somerville for storage tanks. The district’s falter’s earth, oil field, and timber plant bolster Somerville’s prospects.

Waters-Pierce Oil Case Centered in Texas Anti Trust Jurisdiction
City manager Waters-Pierce testified that the firm and Standard Oil did not compete. Other testimony suggested Waters-Pierce Oil Co. was a branch of Standard Oil organized under a separate Texas charter to operate under anti trust laws. Testimony was taken at the request of Assistant Attorney General Jewell P. Lightfoot. It is unclear if the case will be compromised or go to trial. A further reorganization seems unlikely.
