Tragedy Near Bastrop Two Die In Mystery Pistol Death
In Bastrop Texas Miss Kate Berrian and Albert Byers Jr were found dead in mud three miles above town. Each was shot in the head a pistol lay nearby with two empty chambers. They had gone out in a buggy to hunt pecans and had gathered some. Byers had courted Miss Berrian for some time. In Austin Texas the same day officials report that a freeze destroyed almost the entire sugar cane crop of the state with 2000 acres on the William Clemens plantation in Brazoria County and 1000 more on the Hariem convict plantation.
