Ten individuals were prevented from entering Texas amid a San Francisco origin arrival. Authorities reported screening and exclusion actions linked to immigration or customs controls.
A Southern Pacific San Francisco to New York train was halted by a quarantine inspector at the Texas state line near El Paso. Ten through Pullman passengers and Pullman staff were denied entry. all traffic including freight and express was halted. The Pullman car was sent back via Deming to continue east over the Santa Fe. passengers must affidavit no San Francisco exposure since May 19.
Admiral Ahmed Pasha of the Turkish navy arrived in Washington stating his visit is for procuring a cruiser for Turkey. He denied diplomatic aims, saying the mission is technical and for information on vessel construction and to settle American indemnity claims indirectly.
