General J. D. Joubert and Captain W S O Donnell promote a Boer colony in Tamaulipas Mexico after securing financing. They will occupy about 3000 acres 100 miles north of Victoria with river frontage and railroad plans. The syndicate will bring Africans provide implements livestock and credit while settlers repay land at fifteen shillings per acre annually.

Third Day at Southern Presbyterian General Assembly
Lexington Virginia May 23 third day session opened with prayer led by Rev A Moffett of Lebanon. Moderator Hopkins presided and sermons were delivered by Rev J L Caldwell of Pine Bluff Arkansas. Messages were received from the American Sabbath Union and Philadelphia’s Presbyterian Historical Society with invitations and requests for exhibits. An anti saloon league report was referred to a committee and Lee Jackson Confederate Veterans invited to memorial exercises. In Lebanon visits to the Cumberland Presbyterian theological seminary occurred.
