Captain Geo W Smith Dead Pioneer of Bryan
Captain Geo W Smith died suddenly at his Bryan home at 6 10 a m He was born in Leesburg Virginia February 22 1840 and came to Texas in 1867 He built the cotton business to the top and was a longtime leader in Bryan society He served in the Confederate artillery and with Mosby He was a vestryman of St Andrews Episcopal Church and member of the Elks and United Workmen His wife Annie Foote and three children and three stepchildren survive him Funeral services will be held at 430 this afternoon at his home then at St Andrews with interment in the city cemetery Pall bearers are named heirs and local officials in attendance
